Abstract:
An individual's economic, social, emotional, and cognitive growth are only a few of the many facets that make up the complicated and multidimensional idea of development. The need to reframe human development as a multidimensional construct that captures the complex interactions among these multiple dimensions is evident, even in the face of the abundance of indices and frameworks that seek to quantify human progress. In light of the fact that Sierra Leone has recently experienced serious development obstacles, this qualitative case study seeks to investigate the idea of multidimensional growth and its implications for human development in that nation. With 30 participants from a range of backgrounds including policymakers, development practitioners, and community leaders this study uses a purely qualitative methodology to investigate their perspectives on human development in Sierra Leone through in-depth interviews and focus groups. The research uses a phenomenological method to better understand people's lived experiences and perspectives on human development in Sierra Leone. The results of this research demonstrate that human development in Sierra Leone is a multifaceted and intricate concept that defies easy summarization into a single framework or index. The individual accounts of the participants emphasize the significance of taking into account several aspects of human development, such as cognitive, social, emotional, and economic development, along with the connections and interplay among these aspects. A variety of issues, such as institutional and policy frameworks, societal norms and values, historical and cultural contexts, and human development in Sierra Leone are all revealed by the study. Policies and practices will be greatly impacted by the study's conclusions. The report emphasizes the necessity for legislators and development professionals to embrace a more comprehensive and integrated approach to development programming by stressing the significance of a multifaceted approach to human development. The study's findings highlight the need for more sophisticated and situation-specific theories of human development that take into consideration the diversity and complexity of human experiences in various social and cultural contexts. With its more in-depth and contextualized explanation of the idea in the Sierra Leonean context, this study adds to the body of knowledge already available on human development. The study's conclusions call attention to the need for more comprehensive and multifaceted approaches to development programs, which has ramifications for the field of development studies as a whole. In the end, the research shows how critical it is to prioritize the perspectives and experiences of people and communities in development law and policy.

Abstract:
The allocation of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) to schools has produced positive results. However, projects funded by the CDF in Uasin Gishu County face several performance challenges, including persistent delays in implementation, instances of financial mismanagement, and infrastructure that often does not meet expected standards. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of contract segregation practices on the performance of NGCDF projects in Uasin Gishu County, guided by contingency theory. Using a descriptive research design, the study targeted CDF committee members from all six constituencies in Uasin Gishu County, with each constituency having nine committee members, resulting in a total of 54 members. Additionally, the study focused on 136 project management committee members involved in ongoing school infrastructure projects funded by the CDF in the region. Primary data was gathered through structured questionnaires and interview schedules. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis, while quantitative data were examined through descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicated a moderate positive and statistically significant correlation between contract segregation and the performance of CDF-funded school infrastructure projects in Uasin Gishu County (r=0.625; p<0.05).

DOI: https://doi.org/10.55306/GRJSSM.2024.2204
Abstract:
This study investigates the impact of different organic fertilizer sources on the growth, phenology, and yield parameters of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in Njala, Moyamba District, Southern Sierra Leone. The treatments included NPK 15:15:15 fertilizer, goat dung, pig dung, and poultry manure in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Results revealed significant differences in morphological characteristics, with poultry manure enhancing plant height (63.29 cm), stem girth (0.88 cm), leaf number (69.23 leaves), and leaf area (352.94 cm²) compared to other treatments. In terms of phenology, poultry manure also resulted in the earliest flowering (30.14 days) and fruit set (33.05 days), indicating its superior role in promoting rapid reproductive development. Moreover, yield parameters showed that poultry manure produced the highest fresh fruit number (442.21 fruits) and weight (502.04 kg/ha), outperforming goat dung (309.06 fruits; 444.55 kg/ha) and significantly surpassing pig dung (203.13 fruits; 108.69 kg/ha). NPK fertilizer demonstrated moderate effects, producing 353 fruits and 360.13 kg/ha, but did not match the performance of organic fertilizers. These findings underscore the effectiveness of organic manure, particularly poultry manure, in enhancing the growth and yield of tomato plants, suggesting its potential as a sustainable alternative to synthetic fertilizers. This study highlights the importance of integrating organic fertilizers into local agricultural practices to improve food security and promote sustainable farming in Sierra Leone. Therefore, it is recommended that vegetable farmers within Njala Community should incorporate the use of poultry manure and Goat dung at 5t/ha rate into their activities to achieve high yield potential of tomato production

Author: Afifa Rana, S.Suneetha KumariPages: 97-127
DOI: https://doi.org/10.55306/GRJSSM.2024.2205
Abstract:
This paper investigates the relationship between personality traits and pro-social behavior among male and female students, with a particular focus on examining the potential correlation between personality traits and pro-social behavior. A sample of 100 data was collected to explore the predictive power of various personality traits on pro-social behavior. The study found no significant gender differences in pro-social behavior, suggesting that both males and females exhibit similar levels of altruistic tendencies. Furthermore, the analysis revealed a positive correlation between neuroticism, extraversion, conscientiousness with pro-social behavior. Specifically, individuals scoring higher in neuroticism and extraversion tended to demonstrate greater pro-social behavior. However, no significant correlation was found between openness, agreeableness, and pro-social behavior. Moreover, through regression analysis, it was identified that neuroticism and extraversion emerged as significant predictors of pro-social behavior. These findings highlight the importance of certain personality traits in predicting altruistic tendencies among students, regardless of gender. Overall, this dissertation contributes to the existing literature by shedding light on the role of personality in shaping pro-social behavior among male and female students. The implications of these findings are discussed about understanding and promoting altruistic behavior in educational settings.

Abstract:
This study examines how Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) customers' happiness is impacted by the availability and use of digital banking services. In order to improve service delivery and cultivate customer loyalty, it is imperative to comprehend customer perceptions and experiences as the banking industry in Sierra Leone changes in tandem with the growing usage of digital technology. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of digital banking services, such as internet and mobile banking, on customer satisfaction, especially in an environment where traditional banking practices are more common. Using a qualitative research technique, the study conducted focus groups and semi-structured interviews with 80 SLCB customers, guaranteeing a varied representation of demographic factors such as age, gender, and banking experience. Key themes and patterns pertaining to consumer experiences with digital banking services were found using thematic analysis. An extensive investigation of consumer perceptions, difficulties, and satisfaction levels was made possible by this method. Customers value the ease and accessibility of digital banking services, but there are still major obstacles, according to the research. Important themes that have been found include the significance of user-friendly interfaces, the need for dependable internet access, and the effect that customer service has on satisfaction levels. Technical difficulties and a dearth of thorough instructions on utilizing digital platforms were causes of irritation for many users. Due to the convenience of transactions and time savings, people who actively used digital banking expressed greater pleasure despite these difficulties. There are numerous ramifications for this research. To improve the user experience, digital banking platforms must be improved for banking institutions, especially SLCB. Training initiatives that educate consumers about digital services can greatly increase user happiness and usage. Legislators must to take into account projects that improve digital literacy and internet infrastructure, especially in underprivileged areas, in order to encourage fair access to digital banking services. In order to satisfy client expectations in Sierra Leone's banking environment, this research emphasizes the need for ongoing enhancements and customized approaches, which advances our understanding of digital banking in developing environments. With the development and growth of digital banking services, future studies should examine long-term shifts in consumer satisfaction.
